True" hello friends, we are back with another video on US Immigration. In this video, we are going to talk about what is the H4 visa and how H4 dependents can work in the US. Let's start with what is the H4 visa. H4 is a dependent visa which allows children and spouses of H1B visa holders to stay in the US legally. However, since the H4 visa is a dependent visa, the visa holders are not allowed to work in the United States. In 2015, by executive order, certain spouses of H1B visa holders were allowed to apply for employment-based authorization, also known as EAD, which allows them to work in the US legally. Now let's talk about who is eligible to apply for an EAD card. The spouse of an H-1B visa holder who has an approved I-140 can apply for the EAD card. The I-140 is a stage in the green card process. If any H-1B visa holder has an approved I-140, then their spouse can also apply for an EAD card. Additionally, if the H1B visa holder has stayed in the US beyond six years under the 21st Century Act, then their spouse can also apply for an EAD card. The spouse must file an I-765, also called an application for employment authorization, along with supporting documents and fees to obtain the EAD card.
