Hosted Mail Archiving (HMA) is a new email service that transforms and streamlines the way state employees send, receive, and archive emails. In the past, all emails that employees wished to save permanently had to be archived to PST files, which were stored on the Commonwealth Network. However, continuing to place large amounts of PST files on Virginia's IT network consumes a great deal of storage space and leads to increasing costs for file storage. Hosted Mail Archiving provides email retention and storage that is more cost and storage efficient. HMA also streamlines the archiving process by automatically saving and storing every sent and received email without any manual intervention from you. Let's have a look at how it works. When you receive an email, as you know, you can find it in your In. Unlike before, however, your email will also be visible and searchable in a new index via the HMA archive subfolder in your In. Selecting the HMA archive subfolder allows you to see all the emails you've sent or received since being moved to HMA. You can also view your archived email in your web browser by navigating directly to the provided URL. One minor change that comes with HMA is that you must log in to the HMA archive to view your archived emails.
