True, this is a consumer alert from the Washington State Department of Licensing. An increasing number of websites have emerged offering to help people get or renew a driver's license. These websites charge a fee for what they call their customer service. The websites may look official, but they're not. The Department of Licensing is not affiliated with any of them. In fact, those sites are eager to take your money in exchange for merely showing you the steps needed to get a license. That information is already easily available on the Department of Licensing website (DOL.gov). In recent months, we've heard from people who say they mistakenly believed that they can get a driver's license in exchange for giving these other sites money. DOL wants to make it clear that there is only one website that allows you to renew your Washington State driver's license. Our web page addresses always end in "guad.gov", that's "WA.gov". The Department of Licensing will never charge you a customer service fee or money for the forms required to get a license. We recommend you steer clear of those other sites and remember that if the web address doesn't end in "guad.gov", it's not us. Thank you.
