You can either search by the listing of patients and enter their last name followed by their first name. Alternatively, one of the most common ways is to search by Ward. I'm going to click on Ward and request a listing of all the patients on Ward one east. On the selection screen, I can choose any of the patients that have been admitted to Ward one east. Before we select one of these patients and move on to the medical record, I'm going to explain how to add a patient to the system. I'll click on "Add a patient" and then enter a patient named William Smith. I will enter their last name and their date of birth, and click on "Add a patient". In the Vista system, a patient's social security number is their medical record number. So, I will use a pseudo social security number.
