In this video, I'm going to talk to you about how to find your deed on Masslandrecords.com, which is the main website for registries of deeds in Massachusetts. So, if you go to Masslandrecords.com, this is what you see. It's maintained by Secretary of State William Galvin. You look at the map of Massachusetts and you select the registry district that your property falls within. Click on that, and that takes you to that registry's page. This is the Middlesex North District. Now, the default search is for last name, first name, and our system is a name-based index. It's not property-based. So, the primary way of searching is by the owner's name. To illustrate this, I'm going to try to find the deed for the Target retail store that's located in Lowell. I'm just going to type the word "Target" in the last name field. I've added these red labels to help you see. So, in field number one, the last name, I type Target. Field number two, which is the first name, I leave that blank because it's a company. If it was a person named Joe Target, I would type Joseph in the first name field. Then, at label number three, I click the search button. That returns a link to every document in the index that contains that name, so it contains the name Target.
