True, hello everybody! I've got a unit in Washington here, and it is dead, you know. So, somebody asked me if I could do a video on fixing an old CB, you know, base or mobile doesn't really matter. It's been at least 15 years since I've poked around in any of these kinds of things, so I figured I would give it a go. This is the older variant of the Washington that has the UPD 858 PLL and so on and so forth. The radio is dead. Somebody's changed the outputs to NTE 235 and the like. They've done a very simple mod to the radio for us to channel using the noise blinker switch. Other than that, there is a rather superficial crack in the board where the corner of this is missing. But that's not causing the dead problem. That's at best because there's the other part of it right there, that's a capacitor network of some kind, and it's on the /M pins at the radio. I am 99% sure it will work even without that. You know, nothing is actually severed that is important over there, just literally that capacitor. I believe it's a capacitor bank that's been destroyed. That said, the outputs have been changed. I noticed some kind of bodge wire on the other side of the board. Who knows? I'll have to dig up an old schematic or something on this radio and figure out what's going on. I do know the internal power supply isn't working. So, it's a very simple power supply. You've got a three-transistor arrangement there. You know, we've got some old Tosun capacitors that are not vented. This radio is probably 30-35 years old. Best guess is probably closer to 35 years old. It's definitely an old radio,...
