True" music. Good morning, my name is Jeremy Hawker. I'm a security guard for the Honorable Amanda Sanchez Via Lobos in the 13th Judicial District in Sabola County. I am also a courts COVID-19 safe certified designee. What does that mean? It means that I work with everyone in the courts to make sure that we are doing everything that we can to keep our courts clean and safe. Today's Tip Tuesday is the importance of checklists. Checklists keep us on a daily schedule and remind us what we need to do every day to keep courthouses safe. And sometimes more than once, like disinfecting high-touch surface areas, screening all visitors, taking their temperatures, and making sure that our public restrooms have a cleaning schedule. I use a checklist to make sure that happens all of the time. As a bailiff, it is part of my job to maintain courtroom supplies. New Mexico courts have resumed jury trials, so we need to make sure that our courts are clean. It is my job to wipe down microphones and surface areas to ensure that new guests into the courtroom have a clean space to come into. We make sure they have cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, tissue, and a waste receptacle. We also make sure to observe six-foot distance, whether behind plexiglass or by remaining six feet apart. We do all of this by utilizing a checklist every day.
