The reason I picked this task to apply automation to is that it's a common task that people do in a lot of different work settings. For example, when working in a machine shop, you may need to put some parameters into some software that looks something like this. Now, if you're using Windows, I've left a link in the description below this video to the Windows tutorial that shows you how to do the exact same thing but in Windows, not Mac OS. So, imagine you are taking numbers from a table or a spreadsheet and copying them down into your data form. For example, you're going sixteen from here, then say, "Oh, that's fourteen," and you're filling out your data entry form as follows. This can get tedious if you're doing it multiple times. This is what makes automation great. It takes tedious work and gets it done at the snap of a finger. What's nice about Mac OS is that you don't actually need to download any software to make this happen. Instead, you're going to open up AppleScript. So, to get to AppleScript, just click on your desktop, bring up the Spotlight search, type in "Script," and you want to open your Script Editor. Click "New" and make sure that AppleScript is selected here. Now, AppleScript requires that you know the name of the software you are trying to automate.
