True" Welcome to Module 6 on Overview of ABC Projects in Connecticut. We're pleased to again welcome our speaker, Tim Fields, Connecticut State Bridge Engineer. Tim: Okay, thank you Mary Lou. So, we're concluding the module today on the Overview of ABC Projects in Connecticut. As we noted earlier, our ABC experience started in the late 1980s with limited projects, but there were two very significant projects with precast deck panels. Mike spoke in great detail about those two projects in our first module. We had a bit of a lag, but we had an acceleration in 2011 when FHWA fully endorsed and pushed the ABC methodology through their everyday accounts initiatives. In the same year, we also issued our first engineering directive, encouraging bridge designers to seriously consider ABC as an alternative to conventional construction in order to expedite projects, reduce user impacts, and increase workplace safety by reducing the overall presence and duration of contractor, state personnel, and inspector personnel on the ground in construction zones. So, what have we done over these years for ABC project types and quantities? This slide provides the data we've been able to put together. We may be off a little bit, but this is fairly close to what we've put out. We have a total of 138 projects. Within this total, we have 105 projects for prefabricated bridge elements/modular deck beams. Additionally, we include concrete rigid frames over streams, as well as arches and precast deck panels for a total of five projects. Finally, we have 13 projects with precast substructure components, including prefabricated bridge elements and modular deck beams. Within this group, we also include eight GRS-IBS projects. It's important to note that the 138 projects mentioned are either constructed or designed. We currently have more GRS-IBS projects in the design...
