The "true" FMPro Migrator connects to FileMaker databases using an ODBC connection. - In order to accurately read and transfer data, the FileMaker application and your fp7 or F and p12 database file must be open. - Select the file sharing enable ODBC JDBC menu in the ODBC settings window. - Click the on radio button and then click the all users radio button. - Click the ok button. - You should avoid running FMPro Migrator on the same machine running FileMaker Server because FileMaker Server intercepts all ODBC connections to port $23.99, making troubleshooting more difficult. - FMPro Migrator has the ability to delete or store Kalp fields within your FileMaker database, so don't connect to your production database server. - Copy the most recent backup file from your FileMaker server over to the computer running FMPro Migrator. - Download the ex DBC update file from the FileMaker website. The latest ODBC drivers work with FileMaker 11 and higher versions. - Double-click the dmg file and run the Installer. - Download and install the ODBC manager app from the ODBC manager net website. - Open the ODBC manager app and select the system DSN tab. - Click the Add button, then select the FileMaker ODBC driver. - Click the ok button, then click the continue button. - Enter a name for the ODBC DSN, which you will enter into FMPro Migrator as the ODBC DSN for your source database. - Click the continue button and enter "localhost" to connect to a FileMaker database running locally on your computer. - Click the check button to connect to the FileMaker application and retrieve the list of shared database files.
