True" welcome everybody. Um, thanks for your interest in the Colonial Court Records Training. This is a training funded by an NHPRC grant and Transcribe NC, which is a program run through the State Archives of North Carolina. My name is Anna Peitzman, and I'm in the Digital Services section of the State Archives. Today, I will be introducing the session. If you'll remember, when you RSVP'd, we asked for your experience level with transcription, and we had a wide range of responses. And so today, as I talk a little bit about From The Page, the software for Transcribe NC, excuse me, just had a phone call come in. Um, so today, I will be talking about Transcribe NC and From The Page, which is the software that we utilize. So please bear with me. If you're already one of our From The Page users, it'll just be a quick overview. Then I'll introduce Diane Richard, our leader for today, and let her take it away. I will be moderating the chat throughout her presentation and then throughout the interactive training session we'll have later. So what is the State Archives? The State Archives collects, preserves, maintains, and provides access to historically significant arcable materials related to North Carolina. Transcribe NC is primarily focused on the fourth bullet point. The project is important in telling North Carolina's story in the most robust way possible, and by making transcriptions available, this will work to keep North Carolina's legacy alive. So what exactly does that mean? Transcribing C is a crowdsourced transcription program hosted online. This will provide access to historic documents and materials. We have volunteers from all over the world with a wide range of experience, and they help us improve these accesses by building transcriptions. The transcriptions will build indexes...
