I'm from DJ County, so that's my homeboy. So I know he's proud of you because I'm proud of you for doing such a magnificent job as well. But I'm honored and with extreme pleasure to introduce our next presenter, whom I'm so excited to hear because the first two have been so great. Dr. Brian K. Mitchell, his title is "Any Place But Here: 1860 Expulsion of Free Black from Arkansas". Dr. Mitchell is currently an assistant professor of history at the University of Arkansas Little Rock and an associate faculty member at the Anderson Institute on Race and Ethnicity. He's a graduate of the University of New Orleans, where he received an M.A in history and an MS in urban studies. He also completed his terminal degree, a Ph.D in urban studies with a concentration in public history, from the same university. Prior to assuming his current position at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Dr. Mitchell was a decorated senior federal investigator at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and one of the winners of the Federal Investigator of the Year award. He is the author of numerous papers, books, and chapters in books. Mitchell's research primarily deals with race and violence in the Elaine massacre. He is nationally recognized for his public history and digital humanities projects.
