True" Music. Hi guys, this is a short guide on how to convert a Mac OS 10 dmg file into an app file so that a bootable thumb drive can be created to install afresh Mac OS. I'm just using El Capitan as an example. If you do not already have a dmg file or need a fresh one, it can be downloaded from the Apple's website. I have included the link below. Upon completing the download, drag it to the desktop and click on the dmg file. There will be a verification process of the validity of the dmg file. Once it's completed verifying, it will launch a PKG extension file. Go ahead and click on the pkg file. It will do a short verification and then launch an installation window. Click continue and go through the install process. Upon the installation completing, you will find that nothing has happened, nor is there an app file greater. However, the reality is that the app file is actually created in the Applications folder. Go ahead and open the application folder. You will find the install OS 10 at file in the application folder.
